The Scientist I (Molecular Assay Development) plays an active role in designing, optimising, and validating molecular assays to support the development of research and diagnostic products. The position is predominantly laboratory-based and requires close collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, quality specialists and bioinformaticians.
The role combines hands-on experimental work with data analysis, documentation and continuous process improvement, contributing directly to the successful development and delivery of innovative molecular diagnostic assays in a regulated laboratory environment.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Execute molecular biology workflows including PCR, qPCR, dPCR, and NGS
- Design and optimise molecular assays for sensitivity and reproducibility
- Perform analytical validation (LoD, specificity, precision, linearity)
- Develop, document and execute experimental studies aligned with Design Control and New Product Development (NPD) processes under the ISO 13485 Quality Management System
- Undertake additional ad-hoc tasks as required.
Education, Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
- MSc or PhD in Molecular Biology or related discipline
- 1–2 years’ experience in molecular assay development or diagnostics
- Hands-on expertise in PCR, NGS and/or digital PCR
- Working knowledge of quality systems, ISO 13485/18189, CLSI guidelines and documentation requirements for regulated laboratories
- Effective collaborator within multi-disciplinary teams
- An eye for detail and commitment to high quality data
- A flexible, can-do approach to the requirements of the job
Job Requirements:
